Where we lose, first.
Four named comparisons, each written the way you'd want one written about us: what the other tool does better, then the table, then who should buy which.
- Accurate as of 23 August 2026
- Their wins listed first
- No unverified pricing
A vendor’s own comparison page is worth roughly nothing, which is why these open by conceding the point rather than closing with it.
The accuracy rule: state only what is publicly evident from the other tool’s own material, date the observation, and repeat no pricing or statistic we haven’t verified directly. An overstated comparison is worth less than none, because the one claim you check decides whether you trust the rest.

The buying model matters more than the logo.
Work out which row your last personality programme sat in. That usually settles the question faster than any feature table.
| Category | How you buy | The limit |
|---|---|---|
| Certified assessment programmesEverything DiSC, Predictive Index | Per-person credits through an accredited partner, plus certification for whoever reads them | Re-testing costs money, so nobody does it. The profile is accurate on the day it was printed. |
| Free type quizzes16Personalities and its relatives | Free, or a small fee for a fuller report | Poor test–retest reliability at the type level, and nothing to connect it to a team or a tool. |
| Prediction databasesCrystal | Per-seat subscription, coverage of millions of people | Most of those people never opted in, and the visibility runs one way. |
| ThroughlineYou are here | Per active person, per month. Stops when they leave | Only covers colleagues who opt in. By design, but still a limit. |
Questions people ask when they are comparing.
Not usually, and pretending otherwise would cost you more than it costs us.
Predictive Index is built to support decisions about people — selection, with the job analysis and adverse-impact work that requires. We are built to support conversations with them. If you need defensible selection testing, buy that; we have deliberately not built it.
Where we do replace something is the annual workshop whose output nobody opened again.
Bring the tool you're actually comparing us to.
Including one that isn't on this list. We'd rather tell you it's the better fit on the call than have you work it out in month four.
